Lakshman Jhula Bridge

Springing over the Ganges River, the Lakshman Jhula Bridge is 450 feet in length and has an interesting history making it a must-see. The story is that Lakshman, Lord Rama’s younger brother who the Bridge is named after crossed the Ganges using jute ropes at the same point where the Bridge is. You will enjoy spectacular views of the river below and the surrounding areas. 

The Tera Manzil Temple

Rishikesh is a city that has plenty of temples in different sizes and designs. One of these temples is Tera Manzil which sits in the banks of Ganges River. Consisting of 13 floors, the temple offers scenic views of River Ganges, the surroundings and the Lakshman Jhula Bridge. You also get to learn more about Hindu Gods from the idols located on every floor.

Once you are in Rishikesh, you will understand why it’s called the yoga capital of the world. There are plenty of yoga centers that you can go to. Yoga is healthy to your mind, body, and soul. For this reason, even if you have never attended a yoga class, you should try it here. 

The Ganga Aarti

Hindus consider the Ganges or the Ganga as the holy river and that’s why you hear many beliefs and lots of religious activities conducted in the River. During the Ganga Aarti, hundreds of devotees, priests and visitors come together for an event. While the priests perform the Aarti, devotees on the other hand chant bhajans to bells and drums. It’s a fun moment to be in the city and also makes a perfect time for photos especially with the floating diyas in the river. 

Ganges River is famous across the world as the holy river of Hindus. There are a lot of religious activities that take place along the river that attracts visitors from different parts of the world. It is estimated that over 50 million people take a bath in the river on a daily basis.

Besides visiting temples, yoga centers, and the Ganga, there are other numerous activities that you can engage in. you can go cliff jumping, sightseeing and river rafting among many other touristic activities. In Rishikesh, you can only be limited by time.
